CO2 storage through charcoal

Terra Preta and activated charcoal were used to improve the soil in five of our most recent projects. Biochar improves the biological, chemical and physical properties of soils. It serves as a carrier substance for binding water and essential nutrients. Thanks to its large pore volume, biochar provides a permanent habitat for soil-building microorganisms and valuable fungi such as mycorrhiza.

We purchased the biochar from our partner Klimafarmer. In total, we were able to store 33.7 tonnes of CO2 equivalent with the biochar installed in our Tiny Forests! We have now received a donation of 842.56 euros from Klimafarmer for this achievement.

We would like to thank them for the great cooperation and the high-quality product. May our forests grow well!
